- What is ICMBio?
The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation is an autarchy under a special regime founded to formulate and implement public environmental policies to protect the environment and promote sustainable socioeconomic development.
- What is a Conservation Unit?
Conservation Units are natural areas relevant to Brazil and protected by law. In Fernando de Noronha, there are two Units: The Environmental Protection Area (APA), where it is possible to make sustainable use of natural resources - this is the area where the island's shops and residences are located; and the Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park, an area of integral protection that represents about 70% of the archipelago, including islands and secondary islets.
VISITATION
- How to buy the National Park ticket?
You can buy the Park ticket at physical locations or on the website. Go to the visitation page and learn how to do it.
- How much does the ticket costs?
Tickets for the general public are R$ 358,00. Brazilians have a 50% discount, costing R$ 179,00. The ticket is valid for 10 (ten) days in both cases.
- Who is exempt from payment?
Regularized residents of Fernando de Noronha; first-degree relatives of regularized residents; authorized service personnel, and Sisbio licensed researchers. Access the visitation page to find out which documents to present in each case.
- Which areas can I visit using the ticket?
The Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park represents 70% of the archipelago. With the ticket, you have the possibility of scuba diving, boat tours, and access to the following attractions: Sueste Bay; São Joaquim of Sueste Fort; Ponta das Caracas; Leão Beach; Caieira Beach; Dolphin Bay; Sancho Beach; Porcos Bay; Capim-Açu; Abreu; Atalaia; Pontinha Caieira and Morro São José. Some of these attractions are subject to scheduling.
- Which trails need prior booking?
The Capim-Açu; Abreu; Atalaia; Pontinha-Caieira; Atalaia-Pontinha-Caieira, and Morro São José can only be accessed with prior booking.
- How does scheduling work?
The booking is done in person and takes place daily at the Visitor Center. For opening hours, visit the visitation page.
- To which trails do you need a guide?
The following attractions can only be visited with prior booking and accompanied by a guide certified by ICMBio: Capim-Açu; Pontinha Caieira; Atalaia Pontinha Caieira; and Morro São José trail (swimming modality).
- Can i schedule for third parties?
It is possible to schedule for third parties. Just have their ticket in hand (the photo of the QR Code on your smartphone also works).
- Why do the opening hours of the attractions change every day?

- Why are the vacancies at the booked attractions limited?

The natural pools have the bottom covered with corals, organisms with structures sensitive to physical impact. To avoid damage is mandatory to wear a life jacket, mask and snorkel to enter the pool and keep floating during the bath.
- I changed the dates of my trip. What do I do with the ticket already purchased?
When purchasing your ticket online, you will need to enter your travel dates. However, changing these dates does not affect the ten-day validity of the ticket since the days only start to count from the first access/activation of the ticket at one of the Points of Information and Control of the Park or at the ticket office of the Visitors Center.

- I will take my drone to Fernando de Noronha. Can I take off freely?
The use of a drone in the archipelago works as follows:

It is not necessary to request authorization to fly your drone in the APA area. Still, it is essential to be attentive and follow all the rules and requirements of the other bodies involved (ANAC and DECEA). If the image capture is for commercial use, it is necessary to request authorization via gov.br.
Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park:
As a rule, drone flight in the National Park area is exclusive for research and scientific dissemination. In these cases, it is necessary to request authorization via gov.br and include the Sisbio document in the annex.
VOLUNTEERING
- How do I participate in volunteering at ICMBio Noronha?
To participate in the Volunteering Program at ICMBio Noronha, it is necessary to register in the Volunteer Program System and keep an eye on the open opportunities. To learn more, visit the volunteering page.
- How long does volunteering last?
Volunteering at ICMBio Noronha lasts three (3) months.
- Can I stay less than the defined time?
There is the possibility of participating in the program as a special volunteer to produce content/product specific to the Unit's needs.
- What are my activities as a volunteer?
The program covers several areas, such as assistance in visitation, monitoring and research, communication, among others.
- How often are there open calls for volunteering?
The flow in and out of volunteering is constant. It is necessary to keep an eye on the open calls of the Volunteer Program System.
- What does ICMBio offer to the volunteers?
ICMBio offers shared accommodation, full meals, a shared kitchen, payment for the flight from Recife or Natal to Fernando de Noronha, and the Environmental Preservation Fee exemption.

- How do I get the researcher TPA exemption?
Current legislation exempts researchers working in the archipelago from charging, but this exemption is not up to ICMBio. You must contact the Administration of the island of Fernando de Noronha to request it by accessing the government's official website and clicking on Research Projects.

IMAGE USE
- I want to record a commercial in Noronha. How to proceed?
To capture and use images of Conservation Units to produce commercials, it is necessary to request authorization to use these images. The procedure is online, and you can start it by accessing the Gov.br portal. After registration, search for Image Use Authorization in Federal Conservation Units and fill out the form with as much detail as possible.
- I'm going to capture images for my blog/site. Do I need permission?
The capture of images for personal use (wedding, engagement, graduations, etc.) and journalistic material is exempt from authorization as long as you capture these images only in areas where visitation is permitted, without altering the visitation routine, and within the opening hours of the conservation units.
